Female Crew Chief Sets Her Eyes on Racing in 2015

Meet Tina Bucaro.  Tina is a female crew chief for a doorslammer  with the Chicago Wise Guys Match Racing Circuit and she also recently started drag racing her 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass at the racetrack.  Tina made her debut at the Annual Car Chix Ladies Only Drag Race at Byron Dragway this past Summer.
When Tina’s not tearing up the track or crewing with her drag racing team, you can catch her turning wrenches and managing the offices at Steve’s Repairs Plus in Villa Park, Illinois.  Tina is heavily involved in the motorsports industry from many aspects — racing, building, fabrication and that dirty thing we call paperwork.
“When I help to build a car that puts a smile a mile long on a customer’s face, it makes getting up every morning and going to work worth it. But racing a car is different,” Tina Explains,” The adrenaline you feel when your pulling up to the start line, taking a deep breath when you stage and the exhale once the car has taken off. It’s a feeling only one can experience for themselves. The desire to then go faster never ends.”
The desire to go faster REALLY never does end.  Hence why Tina and her crew will be spending their Winter getting the racecars ready for Spring. “Racing two cars next year is going to be double the fun and expense,” Tina laughs.  Come next year’s Car Chix Race, Tina plans to be out in her Oldsmobile Cutlass with a bigger and better motor.  Watch out ladies!
Tina encourages woman in be involved in motorsports and pursue their passions. “Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t or shouldn’t. Stay positive and surround yourself with people that are willing to help and give you advise, there is more people out there like that in the race world then you think,” Tina says,” And…it’s ok to get dirty. Learn about your car, help work on your car and get fully involved.”
