As I am sure many of you have heard there has been a number of changes involving the IHRA (International Hot Rod Association).  These changes have not only affected corporate life involving IHRA and IRGSE (IRG Sports + Entertainment), but they are affecting a number of employees, race tracks and communities.

One change that has been floating around the rumor mill is moving the World Series of Drag Racing from Cordova International Raceway.  This is one of the oldest operating drag racing events in the country.  Cordova International Raceway has been the home of the World Series of Drag Racing for 50+ years.  This year, the World Series of Drag Racing will be celebrating it’s 63rd anniversary — the question now is, where?

It is no secret that Car Chix and Cordova International Raceway have worked together for the last 5 consecutive years, bringing one of the most popular fundraising events, the Drag Racing for Life Breast Cancer Fundraiser (formerly: Racing for a Cure a Quarter Mile at a Time).  The Drag Racing for Life Breast Cancer Fundraiser has been held during the World Series of Drag Racing at Cordova International Raceway for the last 5 years!  Together, Car Chix and the Cordova International Raceway Team have successfully raised THOUSANDS of dollars to benefit the  Genesis Center for Breast Health, Silvis Campus.

Moving the World Series of Drag Racing from Cordova International Raceway will have a devastating impact on the racing community.  We are not just talking about losing a major event, we are talking about the loss of employees, businesses and the break down of a community.  We need the support of the racing community. 
Think about where your local race tracks are.  Besides racing events, what kind of traffic comes through that town to support the local businesses?  How many people are employed by your local race track?  What about their families?  What about even having a place to race to keep your community safe?  What about keeping the dream alive?
