Meet Shannon Butler – Ms. March of 2014
Car Chix proudly announces grudge racing’s very own, Ms. Shannon Butler, as an official featured Car Chix Member! Shannon races a 1993 Ford Mustang GT with a Procharged 445 SBF (pictured above). Not only did Shannon come out as one of the top 12 women in the Car Chix 2013 Women of Motorsports Contest that was hosted on the Car Chix Facebook Fanpage, but she was the first female driver to ever compete in one of our favorite events – KOTS! She can also be seen as Ms. March in the 2014 Car Chix Calendar (order yours by clicking here).
Shannon Butler is from Valparaiso, Indiana. When she is not going rounds at some of the Midwest’s greatest grudge racing events, you are likely to catch her racing her Mustang GT at US131 in Martin, Michigan.
“There is something about being behind the wheel of a 1000+ HP car. It keeps you on your toes because you never know what to expect. Each pass down the track is different. Very exciting!!” Shannon told Car Chix when asked what she loved most about drag racing and motorsports.
Shannon credits her husband for getting her involved with the drag racing scene. He used to drag race and one day, he asked Shannon if she wanted to take the car for a ride…. Lets just say we never saw him racing again! Car Chix asked Shannon what advice she would give to women that were interested in getting involved in motorsports and she responded, “Don’t ever let anyone ever tell you that just because you are a girl you can’t do something.”
And that is a fact! Best of luck to Shannon Butler and crew in 2014 as they begin preparing for their upcoming racing season!
