Four Palestinian women have all gotten together to do what they love. Race! These 4 women all have different stories but came together as the world’s first all-female race-car driving team. The women were featured in a documentary called “Speed Sisters”. The documentary shows the struggles, not only financially but emotionally of these women everyday. The financial struggle of money for car costs, continuous maintenance, repair costs and training. These women take street cars and turn them into race cars to save a couple dollars. While some of the girls have support from their family, others don’t.
The women live and train at The West Bank. Since finding a place to train costs lots of money, the women practice on a strip of land that is next to an Israeli military compound. One day, they were shot at by a soldier with a tear-gas canister. The “circuit” where they race is made up of airstrips and market squares. These 4 women have gone through a lot, and continue to, but they stick together.
