NHRA Drag Racing Legend, Shirley Muldowney, resigns from the B.R.A.K.E.S. (BRAKES) board. BRAKES is a charity that promotes and encourages safe driving for young drivers.
“An opportunity has come up with another entity that will be a really wonderful deal for me personally, so I have resigned from B.R.A.K.E.S. effective immediately,” Muldowney said. “I appreciate and cherish the time I had with board members Wanda Miller, Dave Dobson, and Mickey Aberman and I believe in the mission of B.R.A.K.E.S.”
Shirley Muldowney is known as the “First Lady of Drag Racing.” She is was the first woman to win a major auto racing championship and is also a four-time world champion. She recently made an appearance at SEMA in Las Vegas where she participated in one of the most memorable segments — Breakfast with the Women of NHRA — where she was joined by Erica Enders, Alexis DeJoria, Courtney Force, and Leah Pritchett.
BRAKES is a mission that Shirley and Car Chix fully support and obviously will continue to do so in the future. We are excited to hear about Shirley’s next endeavors.
