The 24th Annual Daytona Spring Turkey Run took place this past weekend at the Daytona International Speedway. This two day show features thousands of classic cars, vintage cars, hot rods, race cars and now even 5,000 horsepowered Jet Dragsters!
Elaine Larsen, whom is currently believed to be the fastest woman in motorsports, turned the heat up at the 24th Annual Daytona Spring Turkey Run this weekend! She showed up with her famed Jet Dragster (pictured above). Elaine is one of only three women in the world that are license to drive a jet car!
“This is good family fun, and I encourage everyone to come out to the event. I love to meet the people, talk to each one and get them interested in the business. I want to show them that racing and hot rods are not just for the garage guys any more,” Stated Elaine Larson in an interview with Barbara Gavan from the Florida Times Union.
Elaine Larsen has 21 years of experience in the racing industry, 10 of which were piloting jet dragsters. Her fastest ET time on record is 5 seconds at 336 mph while racing a place in Wisconsin!
“. I can go 0 to 60 [mph] in less than a second — .7 seconds to be exact. Our racers out-accelerate the space shuttle,” stated Elaine.
“My advice to girls is to always have the guts to go for it, to never give in to the fear, no matter what the endeavour,” Larsen said. “I’ve been injured — I have two titanium plates in my head, but I never thought of quitting. I don’t look at it that I faced death, but that I faced life — I’ve lived it every day.”
