Presley Wilkerson is a drag racer from Louisville, Kentucky.  She races a 1970 Ford Falcon and 2002 Racetech Dragster in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and  7.50 Index Classes.  When she’s not racing at her hometrack, Ohio Valley Dragway in Louisville, Kentucky, she is helping people in need as Substance Abuse Counselor.
Presley is sponsored and affiliated with KDRA (Kentuckiana Drag Racers Association), OSCA (Outlaw Street Car
Association), Redhorse Performance, Don Taylor Racing Engines, Craighead Transmissions and Quickfuel
Technology.  Some of her recent accomplishments include: 2012 Beech Bend Raceway Rookie of the Year and 2014 Ohio
Valley 7.50 Champion.
“Team work makes the dream work.  You hear that quote pretty often when Erica Enders-Stevens is interviewed and it’s so true,” Presley Wilkerson explains, “Without the helping hands I have to keep my cars running every weekend I could not do what I do. It takes so much support from so many people and I’m just so thankful to have that opportunity.”
Presley got involved in motorsports at a very young age.  She caught the racing buy from her Mother, Uncle and Father.  One of the firsts to start racing in her family was her Mother!  At the age of 6, Presley began racing four-wheelers.
“I started racing four-wheelers at age 6.  I drag raced and did barrels and poles competitions on my four-wheelers for about 3 years. Then I
started racing mud trucks at age 11. I actually raced competitively for 8 years and won 11 points championships. When I was 19 I decided I wanted a dragster,” Presley states,” My Dad, Uncle Darrell, and I all started  drag racing again. We have been back to drag racing for 4 years and I absolutely love it.”
Competition is one of the main things Presley loves about drag racing.  Setting a goal and achieving it!  “I drag race, so I feel like I’m always in a competition with not only the car beside me, but myself each pass. I’m always looking to improve my reaction time and improve my performance at the finish line. I love all the elements that go into bracket racing a car,” Presley Wilkerson explains,”There’s just no better feeling than having a great package and seeing that win light glow on your side at the finish line.”
Car Chix believes that women, men, girls and boys should always follow their dreams.  Never let anyone tell you what you can’t do.  If you have a dream, follow it.  Set a goal and take the necessary steps to make it happen.  You can do and be anything you want to be.   Presley agrees.  “As a woman it is easy to feel like the underdog in the sport of drag racing but you should never let that feeling overwhelm you, yet use it to your advantage instead. We have all heard the saying “you can do anything you put your mind to” so, get out and do what you love, stay determined, and kick some butt!”
Make it happen! Good-luck to Presley Wilkerson and crew in 2016!
