Alisha Abdullah is known as India’s fastest Superbike racer.  She is India’s first national female racing champion and until now, was known to be India’s only female bike racer.
Alisha recently started the Alisha Abdullah Racing Academy for Women.  The academy was created to train female races across the country to race motorcycles.  At the same time, this academy will also increase women interest and participation in motorsports.  By the year 2016, Alisha Abdullah plans to debut the first all female bike racing time that India has ever seen.
“I have received 60 applications so far. Training is to start in January next year, where 25 will be selected from the shortlisted 50,” Alisha Abdullah stated in a recent interview.  Besides being a female, the only known requirement for consideration is that the woman applying knows how to ride a motorcycle.
The Alisha Abdullah Racing Academy is a free program that women can get started in.  The female racing students will undergo rigorous training, both mental and physical.  Alisha says their is more to racing and riding a bike than just owing one and believes that racing a bike is 60% mental and 40% physical.
“I know a lot of girls from Delhi who are into superbikes. Like how one buys Jimmy Choo shoes and Louis Vuitton handbags, they buy exhaust systems and bikes. But when it comes to a race track they have no clue how to race,” Alisha explained in a recent interview with the Indian Express.
Alisha hopes to change all of this with her background and experience of racing Superbikes and the Alisha Abdullah Racing Academy.  India could see it’s first all female bike racing team before we know it!
