Car Chix Celebrates 6 Years with Women of Motorsports

We are excited to announce our 6th year anniversary!  Man has it been a ride of a lifetime!  We cannot thank all of our fans, supporters and friends enough for their genuine support for the women of motorsports and Car Chix, the premier motorsports organization for women.
THE ROOTS OF CAR CHIX
The idea of Car Chix came about over 12 years ago.  Car Chix President, Jeanette DesJardins, originally came up with the idea of Car Chix when she was just 17 years old.  After a long day of changing oil and doing brake jobs at a local ma & pa shop in Chicago, she sat out of the porch of her Father’s home dreaming about opening an all female operated garage.  She would call it Car Chix.

“I seriously had the logo and vision of the facility all planned out,” Jeanette DesJardins stated,”It was my dream.”
However, being 17 with no money, you can only buy so much.  So, Jeanette did the next best thing and bought the web domain.  It wasn’t until years later, that the Car Chix Website was developed.
“The Car Chix website was originally launched back in the end of 2009, but only lasted a few days before it crashed.  It was re-launched in January of 2010,” Jeanette DesJardins explained,”So much traffic developed in a short period of time that it actually crashed.  I think that was one of our defining moments.”
CarChix.com started off as a small website for Jeanette and some of the local female racers to chat, share photos and exchange ideas.  After the re-launch, the Car Chix website had a full blown forum with topics ranging from Automotive News to Repair Tips and began gaining popularity very quickly.
This same year, Car Chix hosted their very first event, Racing for a Cure a Quarter Mile at a Time (now: Drag Racing for Life).  The event broke attendance records at the host track, also the oldest operating track, Great Lakes Dragaway, formerly owned by the legendary Broadway Bob.

“It was amazing! On a night that would have little to no spectators, we had the the stands packed all day into the late evening,” Jeanette DesJardins, President of Car Chix stated,”It was phenomenal.  The entire racing community and businesses near and far all came together to support a great cause.”
This record breaking event was the driving force behind the success of Car Chix today…
CAR CHIX TODAY
The past year for Car Chix has been nothing short of amazing!  We had a number of record breaking events, such as the Women of Motorsports Contest that reached more than 30 Million people within 7 days (Read: Car Chix Women of Motorsports Contest Breaks the Internet) and the Drag Racing for Life Breast Cancer Fundraiser that has been held the past consecutive 5 years during the World Series of Drag Racing at Cordova International Raceway (Read: Car Chix Breast Cancer Fundraiser Nearly Triples Funds Raised).  The Ladies Only Drag Races continue to grow and have expanded across the country. The Car Chix online presence has grown by over 297%!  For example, this time last year, the Car Chix Facebook Page only had 16,000 Fans, today we are just under 76,000!  The traffic to the website and online store have increased by over 85% and growing.  The sky is the limit for Car Chix and we thank YOU!
