During this past weekend full of rain, doubt and downpours,  Elko Speedway was able to pull off one feature event of their NASCAR Whelen All American Racing Series; the Hornets Division.
Ashley Bell, a former KRA Raceway Champion of Lester Prairie, Minnesota, started in the front row of 22 car field.  Being the the front of the start of the race is never a guarantee to anything.  Ashley will tell you, “It’s easy but it’s hard starting up front because you have the whole field behind you, its nerve wracking.  I try to remind myself in the car to just chill and take it one lap at a time.”

Although, Ashley’s teammate, Justin Schelitzche, and the other race car drivers gave her a run for her money, there was no stopping her determination as she took home the first place win the second week in a row!  Just a week prior, during the Season Opener for Elko Speedway, Ashley won her first ever Elko Speedway Race Event.  Ashley was neck and neck with another racer until the last 12 laps when a caution was thrown and Ashley was able to catch the lead and take the win by .445 seconds.

This very same evening, Tina Davis from Rosemont, Minnesota, took home her first Elko Speedway victory in the Genz-Ryan Thunder Car Event in an intense side-by-side finish against competitor, Matt Wiebush.  There was only a .29 second difference between her first place victory against Matt!  After her win, the stands went wild as witnesses said she ran a near perfect race!
