Racing has never been a sport that easily accepts female participation, but that doesn’t stop them. Females have been pushing to race for years now. 10 years ago when Danica Patrick made a break through and started racing with NASCAR, females everywhere saw it was their time. Since Danica Patrick started racing, 7 women have competed in Indy Car Racing. Last year, only one female raced and that was Pippa Mann. Mann returned this year to race again in May and now her year is over.

All women who race state that making a ‘female-only’ class for them to race in is not the answer. These women want to win, not by special treatment, but because they have the skills and pure talent to win. Females in racing understand that it won’t be easy, but they don’t want easy. They just want fair. Although it is not easy for females, they still continue to try. Grace Autosports plans to make a new team for the 2016 Indy 500 race. Their team will be fully made up by women in hopes to get more female participation in the following years
