Jackie Braasch is a preschool teacher by day and a 8 second female drag racer by night. She races a Spitzer Dragster that is capable of running over 160+ mph. Geeze— why didn’t I ever have a teacher like this?
Jackie has the race bug in her blood. She was at the drag strip for the first time at only a couple weeks of age as her parents were, and still are avid drag racers. She was already racing junior dragsters at the age of 8 and upgraded to a full sized dragster of her own at the young age of 17.
“I have always been a part of this lifestyle and I love it,” Jackie explains, “It’s not just the cars and the speed, but you meet some of the best people and they become part of your racing family.”
Jackie Braasch is a resident competitor in the Bracket Racing Series held at Route 66 Raceway located in Joliet, Illinois. “I loved racing in the Car Chix race. It’s an amazing experience being able to race against other women,” stated Jackie.
As the 2014 racing season comes to a conclusion, Jackie Braasch and her team already have some big plans lined up in preparation for the 2015 drag racing season, including upgrades to her dragster.
Jackie is a big supporter of women in motorsports and encourages women to follow their passions no matter what they are. ” Always follow your dream and do not get discouraged,” Jackie says, “Things are always going to break, but when you’re doing something you love, it’s worth all of the trouble.”
