Have you seen the Speed Sisters documentary yet? Well, for a limited time, you can see in in Toronto this month. The Speed Sisters is a documentary project that we have been following for the past couple years.
The Speed Sisters captures the everyday lives of 5 amazing Palestinian women that have the need for speed and the hurdles they come across while trying to compete in an autocross series organized by The Palestinian Motor Sport and Motorcycle Federation (PMSMF).
“It represents freedom and independence,” Amber Fares, Speed Sisters Director explained, “Imagine what that must feel like when so much of your life is dictated by a military occupation that’s outside of your control. There’s definitely a car culture happening there, whether you race or not, people really do like to drive and I really believe it gives them a sense of freedom and a sense of control that they don’t feel in other areas of their lives. Every one of the speed sisters says that—they feel free; it’s a release.”
It is great to see the Speed Sisters still at it. Again, we have been following the Speed Sisters, their story and their project for the last couple years. I have not personally seen the film yet, but will jump at the opportunity as soon as it is available here in the USA.
