It’s going down in Ohio!   The first all-female automotive team will be representing Butler Tech in a state competition!  And these ladies aren’t just tearing apart hot rod motors, they are tearing apart and re-building hybrid gasoline and electric motors! Eeeeek!
I like working with the tools and getting my hands dirty,” Madison Pickron explains, a Junior of Butler Tech, “I’m a hands-on learner and I love this program.”
Currently, the women are 5 strong compared to the 39 men enrolled in the Butler Tech Automotive Technology Program. These ladies are definitely out numbered in the automotive program, but they don’t see it as a challenge.   In addition to participating in the schools automotive program, some of the ladies work as regular technicians at local repair shops in the area.
“Working among teenage boys took some getting used to initially, they said. But after proving their expertise, we feel just like one of the boys,” Miranda stated.
We look forward to hearing more from their ladies!  Maybe see them at SEMA?
