Susie Wolff is schedule to make her debuting appearance with the Williams F1 Racing Team at the Australian Grand Prix season opener March 13th -16th. She joined the Williams F1 Team as development driver in April of 2012. Although Susie Wolff has been racing since she was 8 years old, she realizes that she is being watched by many critics that are critiquing her every move.
“Yes, I’m one of the few females in a man’s world but I’ve been racing since I was eight years old and I’m simply following my passion. I’m not on a crusade to show what women can do in motorsport. But I realize a lot of people are watching my progress to see if a woman can cut it at this level. There are some people waiting to see me fail, but nobody could put more pressure on me than I put on myself. I want to do a good job as Susie Wolff, not as a female racing driver,” stated Susie Wolff in a recent interview.
Like many aspiring formula one racers, Susie Wolff began her race car driver journey by falling in love with karting! At the age of 14, Susie Wolff was crowned British Woman Kart Racing Driver of the Year. In 2000, Susie Wolff was even named and recognized as the top female kart racing driver in the world!
Susie Wolff became apart of the Formula Racing world in 2001 when she began competing in the Formula Renault series and progressed to Formula 3 in 2005. In 2006, she was invited to join one of the world most prestigious touring car championships, the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters circuit by known other than Mercedes!
