Georgina Buckley, known as the ‘Fastest Woman on X275 Drag Radials’, is moving forward after a devastating and sudden end to what was one of her career best race seasons. In late August, Georgina Buckley was involved in a terrible wreck during the 15th Annual NMCA World Street Finals at Summit Motorsports Park in Ohio resulting in serious bodily injuries and her prized BBC Ford Mustang near totaled.
“I believe the throttle stuck open and by the time I was able to get it unstuck I had too much pressure on the brakes causing them to instantly lock up. I honestly don’t remember it.,” Georgina Buckley explained, “The last thing I remember was pulling into the beams and the next thing I knew I was in the first hospital.”
Georgina suffered 6 broken ribs, a broken sternum, a bit tongue, a concussion and a number of bumps and bruises resulting from the accident. She was laid up in the hospital, hundreds of miles from home for days with her loving husband and crew chief, Dave Buckley by her side.

“I never lost consciousness but I don’t remember hitting the wall or the first ambulance ride. Matter of fact there is a lot that I do not remember from that first week after the accident,” Georgina Buckley says, “I am feeling much better, it’s taking some time but little by little I am starting to feel like my old self.”
Prior to Georgina’s devastating wreck, she was having a great year with 10 races under her belt; not including the drag races that her husband, Dave was competing in. She ran her best ET of 4.63 @ 154 MP during the Ohio Valley Prize Fight Race. During July, we caught up with Georgina as she competed in the Street Outlaw class during the NMCA NMRA Super Bowl at Route 66 Raceway, The Super Bowl is a race that Georgina and Dave have both been competing at for nearly 10 years and 2016 was the year they finally were cutting nearly perfect lights and going rounds!
However, this is not the end of racing for Georgina; she is a fighter. After much rest and recovery, Georgina is ready to get back on the track.
“We plan on rebuilding the car and while I will still be running 275 I will also be trying my hand at 235,” Georgina reported.
With the re-build project underway, Georgina and her team do not plan on any major changes. Her baby yellow Mustang will get a fresh paint job and remain a carburated nitrous fed beast!
“I want to thank everyone for their calls, messages and those that packed up our stuff that day. The outpouring of support has been beyond what we could have ever imagined,” Georgina says,” A situation like this humbles a person and lets you know who their true friends are.”
We are happy to report Georgina’s progress and look forward to seeing what she brings to the upcoming 2017 race season. Stay tuned..
