Race season has just begun not so long ago for many of us and Oklahoma native, Kenzie Ruston is already a shining star in the racing world. Kenzie Ruston has been named by Sunoco as a Rookie of the Year candidate.
Kenzie Ruston is a second year competitor in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series. She started off the 2013 season with a bang by finishing in 11th place out of 40 other drivers at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee a few weeks back.
Although Kenzie Ruston is young, she has years of experience in racing and a long list of admirable accomplishments. Kenzie has been racing since the age of 12 and has was won dozens of championships since 2009. Kenzie Ruston is also the first female to win a Legends Car National Championship!
“It’s[racing] an everyday deal. You have to eat right, and workout, and go to the shop. It’s just a whole life deal. I’m hoping to make it a career. That’s what I’m shooting for,” stated Kenzie in a recent interview. She admitted to the the news network that her life is centered around racing. Kenzie also listed racing stars, Danica Patrick and Johanna Long as role models and inspirations.
“They’re out there trying to show the boys what they can do. I just hope they can capitalize on it so people in NASCAR give more girls a chance; because if they can go out there and do well then they can think maybe girls can actually do this,” explained Kenzie.
