NHRA Funny Car Racer, Alexis DeJoria, has done it again! During the NHRA season opener Winternationals in sunny Pomona, California, Alexis DeJoria became the first female racer in NHRA Funny Car history to ever break into the 3 second barrier!
Alexis DeJoria was piloting her famous Patron wrapped, Toyota powered Funny Car during the 54th Annual Winternationals. During the Saturday Night Qualifying Session, Alexis flew her Patron Funny Car down the 1000 foot stretch at the Auto Club Raceway at 318.32 MPH in 3.997 seconds! What a way to kick off the season!
“It feels absolutely amazing to come out to the first race of the season in Pomona, Calif., and make a three-second run, and be a part of that exclusive ‘three-second club.’ I always knew we had it in us; it was just a matter of time,” stated NHRA Funny Car Driver, Alexis DeJoria.
Alexis joins only 9 other funny car drivers that have ever made it into the 3 second zone! She went into Sunday’s Elimination session as Number 3 Qualifier, the best starting position of her career thus far. Alexis DeJoria had an upsetting loss against Gary Densham when she was ahead of him and her tires went up in smoke.
