Car Chix held their annual Drag Racing for Life Breast Cancer Fundraiser during the World Series of Drag Racing at Cordova International Raceway last weekend. The Car Chix have hosted this fundraiser at Cordova International Raceway to benefit the Genesis Center for Breast Health, Silvis Campus since 2011. Last weekend, with the help of volunteers, sponsors, supporting businesses and fans, Car Chix nearly tripled the amount raised from the year prior!
“We are so grateful to have such amazing sponsors, fans and volunteers that continue to support Car Chix and our fight against breast cancer. The number of companies that jumped on board with us this year and contributed exceed far beyond our expectations” said Car Chix President, Jeanette DesJardins,”It was with their support that we were able to raise nearly $6,000 for the Genesis Center for Breast Health.”
This is the largest donation amount that has ever been achieved for the Genesis Center for Breast Health, Silvis Campus through the Car Chix Drag Racing for Life Breast Cancer Fundraiser! In addition, this total does not include the generous sponsorship donation from Hairborn Fashions‘ Wigs LCA that includes ten custom wigs that will be donated to ten women in need at the Genesis Center of Breast Health. Hairborn Fashions’ Wigs LCA also created a special clothing line where a portion of proceeds will be sent directly to the Center for Breast Health.
During the two day event, Car Chix hosted several prize raffles, children and adult hula hoop contests, 50/50 raffles and the ever so popular silent auctions! “The silent auction we had on Saturday was amazing! At one point, the crowd extended from our booth straight across vendor alley. There was no getting through, ” said Jeanette DesJardins of Car Chix. Many attendees were even able to meet John Hale of John Hale Racing while he was at the Car Chix booth signing autographs on Saturday!
The Car Chix Drag Racing for Life Breast Cancer Fundraiser is a fundraiser like no other. It is amazing to see how much this fundraiser has grown in just 5 short years from when Car Chix hosted the very first fundraising event, Racing for a Cure a Quarter Mile at a Time in 2010. The Car Chix started the one day event with one tent and two tables and now it has grown into a 2 day event with 3+ tents and a dozen or so tables. Congratulations to everyone involved!
